Making Decisions While Single
One of the perks of singleness is decision-making. You get to choose what you like best and when you want to have it. But sometimes making a decision all by yourself can be a little daunting… especially when it comes to discerning God’s will. How do you know what God’s best is for you?
The first thing to ask is, “What does God’s Word say about it?” From relationships to work ethics to managing finances, the Bible explains God’s standards for our lives. His best is crystal clear. Verses such as “Be kind to one another,” “Do not steal,” and “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse” set firm guidelines for everyday decisions we must make.
But how do we know God’s will on matters that the Bible isn’t clear about? Does God want you to rent or buy? Is courting a certain Christian man or woman really the best for you? How do you know?
For financial issues, remember that when God guides, He provides. If you really can’t afford something, then it’s probably not the best time.
Matters of the heart are a little more complex. Turn to godly Christians for counsel and advice. And remember: You can always ask God to explain His plans to you. He promises that when we call on Him, He will answer.
