Prayer for Wisdom

Dear God, please help us understand the wise sayings we find in the Bible. Teach us about how You want us to do things that are right, just, and fair. Show us how You want us to conduct ourselves in every situation. Make us clever and wise about what is important to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Marriages
(Genesis 2:23-25)
Dear God, You created marriage as a joyous intimacy. You designed for a husband and wife to be united as one. Please help these couples experience unity in all aspects of their lives. Strengthen their love for each other and guide them to follow Your standards of holiness so they can rejoice together in a relationship free from shame. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Making Godly Choices
(Psalm 1:1-2)
Dear God, please help us experience the joys found only in following You. Help us think about Your wonderful laws all day long. Give us a disgust for seeking advice from horoscopes, psychics, people who aren’t Christian, or those who follow after their own evil desires. Give us the strength to break away from people who scoff Your name so we stop hanging around with them. Fill our hearts with a hunger to find pleasure in doing everything You want us to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Teens
(Proverbs 1:4)
Dear God, whisper Your truth in the hearts of these young people so they will have knowledge of Your ways. Develop a single-minded purpose in their hearts to follow Your path of godliness and holiness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Political Leaders
(Psalm 2:10-12)
Awesome Lord of Hosts, I intercede for political leaders in the world today. I pray for their salvation! Send the Holy Spirit alongside them to lead them to the truth about You. Give them a holy fear in their hearts for the King of kings, and ignite a fervent passion within them to serve You. Do whatever it takes to bring them to the place where they will choose to put their trust in you and experience the fullness of your blessings. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for the Salvation of Scholars
(Matthew 2:9-11)
Dear God, You led the magi on a journey to find Jesus. There are many scholars and learned people today who need to find Jesus, too. Use the things they study to draw them to Your Son. Send miraculous signs to point them to Him. Guide them to the manger. Give them great joy when they meet the Savior of the World face-to-face. Lead them into an eternal relationship of worship and sacrificial love. In the wonderful name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Prayer for the Lost
(John 16:8)
Dear God, please send your Holy Spirit alongside these people to convince them of their sin and their great need for a Savior. Convince them of Your righteousness, Your great love for them that caused You to send Your Son, Your only Son, to die on the cross for their sins. Convince them of the coming judgment when Your truth will prevail. And in convincing them, bring them to the place where they call out to Jesus to save them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Knowing God’s Will
(Genesis 6:9)
Dear Savior and Friend, I want to walk beside you! Just as you did with Noah, You have a plan and a purpose for my life. I want to be walking along that pathway hand-in-hand with You. Please show me Your will for my life. Help me follow Your will with the same single-minded focus as Noah did. In the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer for Obedience
(Genesis 6:22)
Ah Sovereign Lord! You are telling me things in my heart which You require of me to do. Please help me be obedient to Your call! Help my feet move quickly to obey out of love and eagerness and hope. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Finding Godly Friends
(Proverbs 1:10-15)
Dear Father, my friends have been pestering me to join them and do wrong things. Please give me the strength to say “No!” Help me stay away from them and turn to You instead for friendship and fellowship. Please help me find friends who pursue godliness and walk along Your pathway. Teach me how to be a friend who knows You and obeys Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Temptations
(Matthew 4:10-11)
O Sovereign Lord! Satan knows my weakness and he is tempting me to sin. Please show me a Scripture to cling to instead of listening to Satan’s tempting words. I follow Jesus’ example as I declare, “In the name of Jesus, get away from me, Satan!” Cause Satan to flee by the power of Your blood. Please send ministering angels to comfort and care for me in my distress. Help others who are dealing with temptation, too. In the saving name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer for Other Christians
(Romans 14:4)
Dear Sovereign Lord, these people are brothers and sisters in Christ. They are responsible to You for their thoughts and actions. Please speak in their hearts and tell them whether they are right or wrong. Then give them the power to help them make the right choices and live in godliness, victory, and truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Anger
(Psalm 4:4)
Lord God, please forgive me when I have not used self-control because of my anger. In my life and in the lives of those I love, please bring healing and restoration to the areas which have been damaged or hurt because of anger. Search my heart! Speak to me! Help me become still when my emotions feel out of control. Help me not to sin in my anger, but use this energy instead to work through problems in a constructive way. Likewise, help these others on my heart learn to manage their anger in a godly way. In the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer for Ministry
Matthew 4:19-20
Ah Sovereign Lord! I hear You calling me to follow after You in ministry. Please strengthen me to be as Peter and Andrew were—quick and eager to obey! Help me set aside the things that hinder me from following You with a whole-hearted abandon. Teach me how to be a fisherman for the glory of God. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer for Those Who are Zealous for Other Faiths
(1 Timothy 1:12-14)
Dear Lord, these people scoff at the name of Christ. They look for ways to hurt Christians. They are zealous for the things they believe in, but what they believe in is wrong. I ask you to have mercy on them just as you had mercy on Paul. You are kind and gracious and full of mercy. Send your Holy Spirit alongside these people and give them each a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, just as you did for Paul. Fill them completely with faith and love for Jesus Christ so that they may have an eternal relationship with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
